My boat is in the repair yard and I am looking for something to do.

I hear alot about the Dove & Quail hunting inland and towards Obregon

Does anybody have any connections for a day hunt?  I am willing to pay a reasonable fee.

You might check with Steve of Catch 22. I remember seeing a post about him doing some dove hunts. Not sure about the quail. Let us know how you do if you get the oppurtunity to go.

What do sparrrows (gorriónes) and rats (ratas) have to do with hunting... or the price of rutabagas in Australia for that matter?:?

I have a coleague with In Laws that run a bird hunting outfit past Obregon, about 2 hour drive from SC.

I have been meaning to go down there, but not had the time as of yet.

He said to call in the US 1-608-203-5539  and talk to Maricela, everything would be set up from there.

It is a legit outfit, so don't think it's cheap, as the permits alone to hunt in MX are quite costly and they would require them, also provide them.

Think their specialty is Wetland Birds and Dove.

I was planning on trying to get down there mid-March, assuming the season runs that long.

Perhaps we can hook up and drive together from SC, or anbody else whom may read this post and be interested?

Regards

Seamus

To follow up

I did get an opportunity to go on a low budget hunt

ended up with a 12 doves, 5 quail and 2 ducks in a disorganized but interesting adventure

there is a large amount of wildlife within 60 miles of San Carlos

My recommendation is to NOT go on a low budget hunt unless you are fluent in spanish

go with guys that have the system down or with a regular outfitter

I was able to provide a cooler of food and some cash to some farm workers in the backcountry - some people that needed it

regarding the rules:  I had asked several people (and got the same answer) and thought I was OK. I tried the best I could - such is life

A few years ago a gringo who lives in Douglas drove across the border. He was found to have a spent cartage in his vehicle. He was sentenced to 5 years in prison. After many months and negations between the Arizona politicos and the Mexican politicos he was released.

I did not bring any contrabane into MEX

All equipment was with a lisenced and by the book

there were a few moments when shells and the lisense were not together

the persons with the lisences (3 different guys with 3 different lisences) repeatedly told me don't worry about a few shotgun shells  around here - with my response of are you sure?

I will not dispute that there may have been shortcomings in judgement

all caps, harsh language and exclamation points are probably not required at this point
