Will be fishing this Friday and Saturday. How's the fishing been? Where and how are the yellow tail being caught? San Pedro? Jigging, wireline, etc? Thanks

Mr. Tata
I heard you have three beautiful grand kids. Taylor, Desirae, and Damian in Tucson. Why are you fishing when you could be with your grandkids so their parents could go fishing?

| Here's a late response. We trolled with wire line and lures off Punta San Antonia, along with a fleet of about 20 or so sport fishers and pangas. In about two hours we had four nice yellowtail in the box and were headed in. Flat seas, no wind, about as perfect as it gets...and a light rain fell as we headed to the dock to rinse off the boat! My kind of January day!

| I had a great day Saturday. A few miles south of San Pedro the yellow tail were biting and we brought in 7 nice ones. Weather and water were great! We also used wire. Thanks for the reply. Mr. Tata

Mr TaTa,
Where were you fishing south of the island? Over the reef, and if so, how deep? I am very curious about how you located and caught them out there.
Thanks!

We were about 4 miles south of San Pedro. We spotted the birds. They were all over the place, diving--just like summer when the yellow fin boil. When I noticed the depth guage it was 600 to 700ft....is that over the reef? There were several other boats in the area--all were catching. Some were jigging, some wire-lining. We hooked into nine, took home 7. The most effective lure was a 7" light wood colored rapala magnum. Looks like a rapala version of a cedar plug, just a little lighter color.

Mr. Tata,
That makes a lot of sense! In my small amount of experience fishing there, I have not yet seen the yellows come to the surface, except right on San Antonio. The depth would seem to indicate you were on the reef, as both sides of the channel would most likely be deeper at 4 miles from San Pedro. I will definitely be looking for activity on the surface when I get there next weekend!
Thanks for your help!
