I plan on vacationing in SanCarlos from April 1 - 7, 2006. I would like to do some fishing, particulary for billfish. I understand that April is not billfish season. What fish are running that time of year? How far to have to go out to catch fish? Does anyone know phone numbers/sites of reputable charter boats? Is fishing better in Puerto Vallarta or Mazaltan that time of year?

You are just a couple weeks to early, last year the Tuna turned on april 14th, and the Marlin were thick april 20th.Several years ago I fished with Mr. Marlin In  Puerto Varata, they did a nice Job,,you can find several Charter operators in all the areas you mentioned on the internet..

My Business ( Catch-22 sport fishing adventures) as well as Bob Blairs Charter, both have  Excellent Grady White 26' boats, fully rigged and ready to catch bill fish for  75.00 per hour, you will find prices further down south much more expensive, how about taking your trip a few weeks later ??? hope this helps  Steve

Thanks for the info. I'm cannot take the trip any later. What do you normally catch that time of year? Is it worth fishing?
