Did we all decide to standardize our gps's to statute or nautical miles. And, is our datum San Carlos Marina? I know this was beat to death last year...but I can't remember, the 70's were hell on my long term memory.

| I believe the final decision was standardizing to nautical miles and knots. I don't remember the exact starting mark - Dobles, or the entrance to San Carlos Marina. But that should put you close when you hear "22 miles on 190" on the radio.

Mateo - those were TOUGH years in the 70's - glad my children came out normal!
Check this out - I can't find the "survey" we did...there is one string from April 2006 if you search for "statute" in the search box.

Mateo,
Steve fished with me on Sunday and we re calibrated the GPS to mark the start point at Punta Doble, in addition we converted to Nautical miles not Statute miles.
Hope that helps.
Good luck this weekend.

Thanks Guys
I have always had my gps set to nautical miles and knots, but my datum turns out to be the harbor. I assume that the Terrafin San Carlos datum is the mouth of the harbor, which is probably less than 1 minute in latitude from Doble. The mob is never hard to find but as you probably remember Craig, I have had one heck of a time leading other boats to my location. I report nautical miles from my datum and bearing from Doble. I assume that it is a little better that 1-mile from the marina to the mouth of the harbor. I guess that could be source of my problem.
Hope to see you all this weekend.
