We went chasing the tuna for three days. Deal Maker did find a nice 55-60# fish the first day off Tortuga. We caught a sail and a few dorado off a small island south of Punta Chivato. Stayed in a beautiful bay with the guys south of the island that night. Left early and drifted until the sun came up off of Carmen. I could hear a few big fish jumping in the moonlight. Trolled for a while off Carmen with only a few jumpers spotted and a few dorado. Cruised is past Loretto to Puerto Escondido for fuel. Beautiful harbor. The inside passage was total glass. We almost colided with six mature mantas. Ran all the way to Punta Chivato, only passing one big dorado. Trolled up a few skippies and ran to Santa Rosalia for the night. The sunrises, moonrises, and coast of Baja are incredible.
Next morning found great dorado action in glass calm conditions 5-10 before Tortuga. Made it to Tortuga and sporadically picked up more good dorado (some in close). Passed one good marlin and then a monster. It was easily #350+. Passed a sail and then proceeded to loose a few more dorado and three marlin.
Ran in and passed a few jumpers in the fog outside of the reef in 75.5. Was surprised to see one jump 8mi. out in 72.5. Then saw three separate fish and two pods of bait come up a few miles out in 73.5-74. My friend said he had five pass him a half mile out while bottom fishing.
Curiosity got me and headed out on Sunday. We saw some jumpers several miles out off of Tetakawi. Missed one that was on for a few seconds and passed a huge pale tail. I heard another guy had a black on for 2.5 hours and lost it at the boat and caught dorado in the same area.
Heard of other hookups on the reef. Run all the way to Tortuga if you don't have enough dorado for the winter. There are a few tuna out there roaming around. Still lots of marlin even in green water and some even right out front. Right now the weather is hot and the water is perfect even for swimming. Get your fix while it lasts.

Great report Bryan. But I do take exception to this part. Weather is hot during the days and is very nice, but the water is NOT perfect for swimming. It's colder now then it was at the end of November last year. I was swimming last week. You can definetly get in, but it is chilly. It cooled off a lot faster this year than the last couple of years.
Sorry. Head to Pilar if you want nice water @78. Some may consider it hot for the end of October. The weather is just really very nice. Catch all the baby sierras you want for bait off of Pilar. Not sure how they'd do in the livewell. I'm sure a live mullet cast to one of those basking marlin would wake them up.
Yes, not as nice as last year, though it should be warming over the next few days. I think that haze out there was trying to create fog but just couldn't.
