For All Yellowtail Fisherman:
A season long yellowtail-only derby will be held in San Carlos, with fishing to begin on December 1, 2007 and conclude on March 30, 2008. The entry fee is 350 pesos (about $35) and you can register at the Marina San Carlos office or at Star Marine Center, which will also serve as official weigh stations.
The largest yellowtail by weight, weighed in by a registered contestant will win 2/3 of the money in the pool and 1/3 will be donated to the San Carlos Fire Department (Bomberos). Yes, you must register first!
Game On!

Thanks for the clarification IronMan. I may try the ancient technique of chasing the fish down with my boat, diving in the water and choke holding it to submission instead.

Spearfisherman can't enter? This sounds like discrimination against spearfisherman, I am going to have to protest to somebody!!
Hey Mat mayby we should have a spearfish yellow tail derby to challenge the other yellowtail derby.

We went to the Star Marine, and then to the marina san carlos today to register for the yellowtail derby.
Star marine seemed to be confused, and the marina took our info and $.
we were the first to register.
Time is short, and the fish will be biting,,,
The firemen need our assistance, let's get going!!!!!!
Fish on,
good luck to all,
let the lines bend.

The race is on,
the first Yellowtail has been entered.
"Flying Low" entered a nice yellowtail .
unfortunately, the derby seems to need help in marketing and organization.
who is in charge of this Derby. We would love to assist as needed.
the Firemen need our help.
Thanks

Bart,
The Derby is in need of assistance for Marketing , and organization.
What can we do to promote more interest, and participation?
The firemen could use the help.
thanks

It is looking like a miserable weekend to fish - are there any backup plans for postponing the Tournament. Wind up to 50KPH will be dangerous to anyone planning to use a small boat...
