I know most of you guys do the billfish thing but I was wondering how the other species are doing right now. I'll be headed down in a couple weeks and can't wait to get the boat in the water and do some fishing. Are the tuna still around, dorado etc.? Have the yellowtail shown up or is the water till on the warm side? How far out is the fishing for dorados, tuna etc.?
Tnx in advance

| You can catch lots of little dorado in close, and there are bigger ones farther out. Keeping fingers crossed on the tuna. There is lots of bait inside. I heard a bonita was caught, a couple wahoo bites, little roosters on the beach - I think that things are shaping up. I bet some YT are coming up looking for some butterfly jigs.

Yeah, I'd love to catch a rooster. That would be sweet.

Try down by Pilar. They attack the bait along the shoreline at sunrise and sunset. They may be with the bird and bait pile off the estuary mouth the rest of the day. Unless you want to wade up to your chest, get a kayak. I have some down there, just let me know. They are so cute and a pretty yellow. They are pretty tough though. Use anything small and shiny. There may be some bonefish out there now too. They'll fight like their big brothers if you have a one to three weight and the ladyfish like tarpon. Not sure where the bigger ones reside.
Saw that one bird and bait pile moved to the shoreline just opposite of Marina Terra. It may be quite a cast from shore though.
