Hello everyone,
My dad and I are headed down there for the cantina cup and a week of fishing on the 29th of sept. We are contomplating leaving the boat down there in storage for the winter, but have questions about liability. The storage facility we are looking to use is the marina seca ( if anyone has other recommendations please let me know...)
What have you guys done in the past to make sure the boat is covered (in case something bad should happen) and what do you recommend (insurance companies as well as storage facilities) ? It would really help us out. We have spoken with the marina and they have been a little un- forthcoming on whether or not the boat will be covered under their insurance while in storage.
Thanks guys, can't wait to see you all!

As I understand Insurance at Marina Seca after 10 years of dry storage there....there is none provided by the Marina. We carry the required liability insurance on Seadream but gave up on accident/repair insurance years ago as costs became prohibitive and deductibles higher than most damages other than named storms which aren't generally covered, anyway. Most damages you might incur could probably be repaired in Mexico for less than a year's collision insurance premiums except for damage due to named storms which aren't generally covered anyway. So, get your liability insurance from Hambone in San Carlos or off the web from places like DriveMex and be prepared to pay out of pocket for anything else that comes up.

Cool thanks!
Is "Hambone" on the web or on the forum? How would I get a quote from them?
Also if anyone else would like to share how much they pay down there, let me know.

For Marina San Carlos and Marina seca you need to produce liability insurance.
Hambone is what I used to use when I kept my yacht there.
The best insurance company, in Mexico, is Mapfre Tepyec

Thanks Jimmy, I'll check it out.
Any info on what to expect to pay for a $80k boat?
Thanks again,
Heather

For Mapfre Tepyec, contact Memo Iberri on the insurance page on the main web site.
For liability only, you can cost compare online by checking our boat/yacht insurance offering on the same page.
I have full coverage on my boat and keep it in storage at Marina Seca when not in use. Never had a problem there. Mine is a power boat on it's own trailer and has a custom mooring cover over the boat.

I have never had a problem at marina seca. You will need to get online and get a 10 year import permit. Your liability ins. is cheap and my storage for 33 ft was like $40-50 per month. Call Juan at marina seca 1-877-402-4638
