Happy Thanksgiving.. I am thankful for good friends!!! Like you guys...

When we pulled the boat out last time, a trickle of oil/lube was running down the skag.. Possibly the seals of the prop shaft??

Any ideas??

Whom would you all recommend I take it to??

I hope that warm water stays around, Elvia and I will be down before Christmas..

Inboard? Outboard?

If outboard, check your gear oil drain plugs. There is generally a rubber or plastic washer that sits between the screw itself and the casing. They wear out, but are only a couple of bucks to replace. Or try tightening the screw a bit.  You'll be able to see if the gear oil is leaking from one of these screws; your casing will have thin line of oil on it and it usually accumulates along the bottom of the skeg.

One of these on my Yamaha motor was not sealing correctly and I was seeing a little bit of gear oil leaking from it. Replacing the washers and tightening the screw down stopped the leak.

Always look for the cheapest fix first! ;)
