First big Santa Ana winds will hit SoCal for the next several days. Batten down the hatches in San Carlos! Can someone post a weather report 24-36 hours from now?

I was in Penasco this past weekend and it did nothing but
BLOW! BLOW! BLOW!
We went out Friday morning in unsettled seas and rain squalls, headed to the 23, only to find the wind howling as we got further north and west. Turned around and headed south about 10 miles to the 13 and soaked a couple of baits as the seas continued to grow. Finally said to hell with it and headed in, had the boat back on the trailer by 2:30.
By Friday night, the winds were coming out of the due west at close to 30 knots. We were down at Manny's Beach Club on the water and if I had wings, all I would have had to do is spread them and I could of flown away!
Saturday, the winds were still strong in the morning, coming out of the north. We didn't even bother to go out. Drove down to La Pinta beach and watched some folks catch lots of corvina in the protected waters of the estuary. They were able to fill a couple five gallon buckets within minutes using KastMasters.
The locals I talked to at the harbor said it's been a really rough summer because it's been extremely windy. The harbor was red-flagged and closed by the Port Captain several times because of the wind. Mi amigo Audi was finishing up an 8 day stay while I was there and said that he was only able to get out on decent water one day out of the eight.
I'm hoping it blows itself out and settles down in the next few weeks and we get some decent water for fall fishing. Buoyweather for today and tomorrow shows 18 to 25 knot winds and small craft advisories. We have a mild El Nino year to thank for it.
<shrugs> Mucho viento!

Damn!, if it is that windy down there NOW, it is fixin' to get a lot worst the next couple days I think.
Sounds like the Northern gulf was more windy this summer/fall than SC. Although it was a very wet summer in SC in August/September. Tons of rain.

Stuart, that blowing you experienced was probably not related to the high pressure that has built in the southwest. That sounded more like wind being pushed by the strange low that immediately preceeded this high. It actually moved in on AZ and SoCal from the EAST, very unusual.
Of course, it matters little when it ruins your fishing day.
Have the northerlies hit SC at all in the last 12-24 hours? We still have Santa Ana conditions in the LA basin right now.
