I noted when I last drove through the Maripose border that the Mexico->USA border entrance has very narrow and curvy lanes bordered by concrete barricades. Looks a little skinny for trailering a boat back, which I intend to do next weekend (21 foot boat).

Anyone have any problems trailering a boat through this maze at Mariposa? Would it be easier to go through Nogales? Sure don't want to wait in the truck line at the border.

Thanks!!!

They have changed to a new, wider lane for passenger vehicles, still separated from the truck lanes. They took over one of the southbound lanes coming into Mexico and it is almost a strait shot in. Should be no problem for you.

Uhhh... DO be careful! I have a 29 ft. ProKat and got wedged between those barriers and the guard rail coming back across the border in June. The trucks had encroached on the barriers and pushed them further to the left, narrowing the lane even further.

Looked okay when I entered, but as I got further in, it narrowed a great deal. By the time I realized how narrow it was, I was stuck. No option to back up, I could only go forward. The trailer took all of the damage. Bent the fenders, destroyed my guide-ons, wiped out two wheels and tires.

Dragged the boat through customs with two flat tires. The agents told me a guy in a 40 ft. motorhome had a similar problem earlier in the day and had substantial damage to his motorhome, but there was nothing they could do about it because it was on the "Mexican side" of the border. If, like Craig says, there is a new lane, you should be okay.

I can still hear the sound of grating metal as I pulled the boat through there...OUCH!:X

As Craig points out it has signicantly changed since you went thru in June.  They opened new fast lane commercial lanes in August and as a result the auto/non- commercial  lane now is far left and actually crosses and joins the traffic flow that comes under the bridge on the old road thru town.  The autolane and truck lanes going north are separated by concrete barriers.  You'll feel like you are in the old southbound left lane-you are but it is now striped and marked appropriately.
