| Geez, I plan a fishing trip there for 6 months and I see today that a hurricane is coming thru on Sunday when I get there ! They say its supposed to take the same track as John did and forecast rain on Sunday and Monday. IF that's true, will I be able to fish on Tuesday or does is take longer for the seas to calm down. We're planning to be there Sunday thru the next Saturday, would hate to drive from Denver just to sit in a bar all week!

Really hard to say but best guess would be that you might lose some time early in the week (Sunday-Monday) depending on what Lane does. If it follows the same pattern as John and that seems to be what the weather guessers are predicting, Sunday and perhaps early Monday may be no-go days but after it passes it should be nice and very fishable. Note that we lost Sunday in the Labor Day tournament to John and on Wednesday, after we left, our teammates caught a 58.5# dorado and a blue marlin!
I've added another forecasting center from LaPaz that proved very accurate during John. See the link on our Solunar Tables page. I've also added a link to the National Hurricane Center. The long range buoyweather forecast seems inaccurate to me as it is under forecasting the winds by about 50% for Sunday and Monday.
Hope this helps with your decision. May only have to spend Sunday in the bar and hey, the football games will be on!

The tournament fished the day before "John" passed, and the day after, and more fish were caught the day after, although the seas were MUCH rougher than the day before. It did calm down rapidly and was flat by the second day, and fishing was very good. Look back two weeks on the fishing board for all the associated reports, and remember, "John" went by some 70-80 west, so if this one comes closer it could be totally different.
GOOD LUCK!

FB,
It was 19 years ago - that was before the deformity set in - the bodypaint now is just to hide the bad parts!

Yup, that's why I'm so good at fishing; when I started, there were no land animals to hunt yet, so you had to be good on the water!

Hey,, not to hi-jack the topic, but how often do you get to SC? (to fish?).
I have to work so cannot get there often enough... I used to drive or fly to LA Bay twice (two weekends) a month when I lived in San Diego.. SC is closer to where I live now. but the fishing is not quite the same.

Well it looks like my angel is taking care of me again, the 5pm hurricane center update puts landfall way south of SC. I think we'll be fishing Monday morning .
If you see 5 guys and a kid, my 14 yr old son, on this boat, stop and say hi. I know it aint a fishin boat but we sure can get to wherever we think we should be in hurry! By the way, thanks to everyone on this forum for the help with lures, lodging, etc. Especially Bart and Stuart.
