We left to try out a new boat that we just got to add to our fleet, Catch-22 "Rubina". Seas were flat, FLAT! we began the search as soon as the water started to change color but no signals, not a single fish, nor a single bird to chase....after a couple of hours we decided to run further out, at the 30 miles on a 220 we found a long line, it was empty, it only had one dorado and a shark hanging from it, but we started seeing lots of bait fish... after a while we left the long line and ran into a floating log...first pass and... ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ our first strike, a ballyhoo with an alien in front of it, I set the hook and once I'm confident the hook set is solid I give the rod to one of my friends (the 3 of them had never fished off shore before) after abour 25 minutes and 3 tired guys we landed this beautiful dorado, we forgot our gaff and it was a mess getting it into the boat, a lot of fun!

we continued trolling in the same area, since we spotted several good size dorado, but there was SO MUCH bait in the water, and they were just swimming with the bait, but not chasing it, I guess they were already full...we tried lures, feathers, bait and did not get lucky... we stayed there and we finally had another strike, again on ballyhoo, another nice dorado that we lost after about 10 minutes and close to the boat. With all the excitment we lost the log...I followed my MOB on the gps and kept trolling in the same area, and we had a sail come to the spread while we were looking for the log, it caught us off guard and we missed...bummer!! we kept on trolling and about 5 to 10 minutes after a blind strike on the shotgun lure, lightest rod, another sail, we missed again...I should say I missed this time ...we kept on trolling, I was driving the boat, looking for the log, someone calls my name from the back of the boat asking something...I look back to answer the question and I see a fin coming towards my Short Flat bait...I run to the reel and the rest of the guys keep staring asking themselves what's going on...the fish swithces to the outrigger, I grab the rod and pull the bait down from the clip...the fish takes the bait and starts running...ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ...a few looooooooooooong seconds that feel like an eternity and hook set!!! fish on!!....the boat shut off and I fought the fish on dead boat, the walkaround feature helped a lot!! After about 20 minutes we had a beautiful sailfish to the boat, we brought him up for a quick picture and released it succesfully....what a feeling!!!! All my buddies were screaming in excitment, they had never seen a sailfish before, it was great to look at the smiles on their faces....they now understand how it feels to release a fish, and they were proud to do it. Before our trip they were pretty scheptical about it.

We had such a great day and sea conditions were great, flat water, we saw dolphins, whales, sea turtles, had dorado for dinner and released a sail...thruly a day to remember!!!!
Thx and good luck this week.
Fernando
p.s. I did not have a scale to weight the dorado, what would be your guess?

| Awesome! I'd agree with Bart. Probably right in the 40-45 lb. range. Outstanding fish. They sure have gotten bigger since I was down there in June!

They must have been looking at fish like that when they set the limit at two - I would be right proud to have two of those!

here are some more pictures of the dorado, the funny thing is that the 3 of my friends are fighting to decide who's dorado it is! they don't want to "share" the credit!! lol
All 3 of them say: 'It's MY dorado"

You've made your point-unless you want to volunteer why don't you stop kicking the dead horse..dorado...or whatever.

Bart
So nice of you to notice.
I would be happy to help out.. if everyone would send me reports... if I get no reports, I would simply post NO REPORTS...
If you are willing, how about setting up a "special" area for the weekly reports. Please let me know.
Thanks

FB
And now you have identified the crux of the problem-it is not getting someone to write a report, it is obtaining the info on which to base one.
Will take your offer under advisement.
Thanx

FB- I spoke with Bart Today, I will try to get weekly Info from Bob Blair Charters and Tequila Shelia Charters and Combine there info with our Catch-22 Reports ,maybe we can send all the Info to Bart for a report ? Until then I will Make sure we get a Catch-22 fishing report posted weekly.
The Truth of the matter is I do not send as Many reports as I would like to because I do not want people to think we use this fourm only to blow our own horn, yes we do use it as a marketing tool but try to keep it to a reasonable amount.
tight lines

From Alec's fishing board:
There is a big concentrations of forest, 32 to 38 miles on to 220 -225. We just got back from there and it´s really good.
They are taking small plastic lures (Light black-purple, Blue-white and Gree-black).
Be aware of some long lines around.
Good luck,
