Hey all,
I have a trip down this weekend. I have never been so. I was wonderin' even if John goes up and away from us. What kind of sea's do you think it will generate. It's got to push some kind of swell up that way. I would hate to come all the way down and not be able to fish. Thats a long way to sit in a bar. If anyone has any clue as to what it bight be like please give me the heads up.

It appears to be indicating a more westerly path than shown yesterday.

Based On bouy weathers 7 day forecast for waves (flat) and the west tracking of the storm it should be no factor

| ACAPULCO, Mexico - Hurricane John strengthened into a dangerous Category 4 storm Wednesday, with forecasters predicting its center would come closer to land during its march up Mexico's Pacific coast, as its outer bands lashed tourist resorts with heavy winds and rain

To quote from NOAA :
"" .........
THE INITIAL MOTION IS 305/10. JOHN SHOULD CONTINUE TO MOVE TO THE
NORTHWEST AND PARALLEL VERY CLOSE TO THE WEST COAST OF
MEXICO...AROUND THE SOUTHWESTERN PERIPHERY OF A MIDDLE- TO
UPPER-LEVEL RIDGE OVER NORTHERN MEXICO. THE OFFICIAL TRACK
FORECAST HAS BEEN ADJUSTED SLIGHTLY TO THE EAST OF THE PREVIOUS
TRACK AND IS IN CLOSE AGREEMENT WITH THE DYNAMICAL MODEL CONSENSUS
CONU. THERE REMAINS A HIGHER THAN NORMAL UNCERTAINTY IN THE TRACK
AFTER THREE DAYS...AND THE GFDL MODEL STILL TAKES JOHN
NORTHWESTWARD INTO THE GULF OF CALIFORNIA.

Hmm...I tend to disagree. Unless it tracks due West it will be a factor on the SOC.

Hope you are wrong !! Given there is a fishing Tournament this weekend, I for One Will stay optimistic that It curves west like noaas 5 day forcast shows, The center would be west of Cabo by Saturday, I hope Very Much I can type a note on Saturday and say "See I told you so" Guess we will know for sure in a few days

| Just an opinion: I think the damage is already done. John will pile enough water up the SOC that it will result in very short steep seas, particularly on the ebb, that fishing will be very difficult. The amount of wind is just another + or - factor.

One of the Mods On NOAA shows waves direction, wave size and wave direction, the Mod shows all the wave surge Pushing south west, away from the SOC. I stay optimistic, man I want to fish this tournamnet !! Wow I Really hope I'm right

That won't happen. If anything it would push a swell with a longer period (not steep wind waves). If it stays south of the SOC and continues West.

| The waves will reach peak height saturday with the surge and settle down Sunday. It aint gonna be flat... I would expext 5 feet or so. If steve is fishing on his 16 foot aluminum secret weapon "The Tin Man" he will be dizzy when he gets to shore. Id sure like a sixty footer about now.

| Will jump up and down and chant as per Bart's request. However , I would bet on 5-6 ft waves, short to med. period ( depending on tide) and 20knt. winds. Hope I am wrong but!!!!

Hopefully my name sake hurricane is a lot like me. Drawing a great deal of attention, making a lot of noise but virtually harmless. Hope you all have a great weekend of fishing.
Regards,
John

For my part, I am taking Bart's lead - I have been chanting and baying at the moon - if you're lucky, I will get the storm gods mad, and Rio Rico will be stricken after I leave in the morning, sparing the tournament and community in San Carlos.
