Bart,

What is the possibility of setting up a report for daily fish counts, with a "registered" login by the boat name or charter company to post results daily. They have them for all of the marinas or landings in CA, like the one from Point Loma Sportfishing in this link. It would be a great resource for drawing attention to the fishing businesses in San Carlos, and would also be a plus for Marina San Carlos and Marina Real. Bob Blair, Catch 22, Tequila Sheila, Gary's, and all the others could participate by posting daily information, and the locally run boats like Amigo, Huapanguero, etc., could give their daily reports to someone at Marina San Carlos to enter. You will have to tell us what is/is not feasible - you might even have a separate area outside of the forums and sell advertising!
Check out the link and give us your thought!

Had to give some thought to this one before replying.  My thoughts are these:
1.  The capability already exists right on this forum but open to expansion.
2.  The report is only as useful as the input and that is dependent on the charter boat operators to participate.  Some do now, but most don't and some do not have the technical where-with-all to do so.
3.  In order to succeed, it would almost require a central POC in San Carlos to collect and post the data.  I think this is a bit different than the California situation because I believe they have some legal reporting requirements that must be met there.  Not so in San Carlos.  Hard for me to do because I'm not in town most of the time.

If one of the operators or a volunteer data collector would like to take this on, I will certainly support it, either here or on a different forum as the case may be.

Thoughts, volunteers or comments, anybody?

Hi Bart,

Well, that puts the question back into the hands of those who stand to benefit most from launching a daily report - imagine the enthusiasm to jump on a charter boat when the report shows dozens of billfish released and even more dorado, tuna, or yellowtail caught...........so who will jump up and elevate the sportfish industry in San Carlos????

 Craig :P
