I am coming back to San Carlos in Oct. I understand that Oct. is still warm and that Dorado are still hitting. Does anyone have a suggestions regarding lures, or whatnot I should bring down with me. I will be hauling my 21 ft Seaswirl for the first time so I will probably hire a mexican Captain for the first few time I go out.

Hi- Oct Is Our best Month Very very Good fishing and great weather, For Dorado you can-not go wrong with Bally-hoo or feathers, great Idea to hire a Local captain, They know the hot spots, let me know when your are coming and I can set You up with some day captains, Oct. is also our best big fish Month, last year we had Large blues & One Black over 700 pounds

Thanks for the info Steve. Any recommendations are welcome. I met one Captain named Roberto who is a friend of the mechanic Frankie. Any info on him---seemed to know the water when I went out to check a boat owned by a fellow named "Chuck"--can't call Roberto or Chucks last name.
Jan and Feb this year was the first time to San Carlos and I love it. Plan on being there in Oct. and then back for Jan and Feb.

Rebeldog,
Any of the quality brands of feathers will do - I like Boone SeaMinnows (cheap), MegaBait brand (reasonable), Jaslure (more expensive) and Zukers (more expensive). For plastics, the small Pakula Uzi, Fluzi, Sprockie, and Zipper are great, and the Catchy Spinners offer a deeper running lure (both expensive!)! In front of a ballyhoo, C&H SoftHeads, MoldCraft small Chuggers (both cheap), and any of the small L&S Ilander lures will work (more expensive). Colors vary by the hour and day, but purple/black, purple/pink, and red/black in less light, and bright green, green/yellow, green/orange, zuchini, Mexican flag, and dorado colors in the brightest light. Mixtures of pink, blue, and silver are good to have in your spread all the time. Sizes run from the 4-5", all the way to 10-11", but 6" is an all around good size.
Here's some of what I am rigging for the next trip:
