50 boats over 2 days and only 31 dorado? That works out to 1 dorado on every 3rd boat, or after 3 days fishing you can expect to get 1 dorado. The assumption is these boats that enter the tournaments know how to catch fish, which I believe to be the case. Normally, tournament entries know how to raise and catch fish.
Calling this slow is an understatement. This is clearly not the way fishing used to be in San Carlos. I would hope all you guys can now agree and collectiviely decide something should be done to address the declines...

| Got it! Sorry. Correction: After 3 days it is reasonable to expect 1 dorado over 18lbs.

| The dorado population appears reasonably strong. If I had been fishing for larger dorado in the heat, I would have been sinking baits when we found the schools. Had marlin on my mind though. Good luck out there. -Jarrod

DiveUrge... Your sarcasm is completely unneeded as well as unwanted on this forum. Yes, it could be true that the numbers have declined. But, will never have solid proof that the population is on a true decline due to over fishing and harvesting by Commercial companies or small panga longline fishermen. The ocean is a constantly changing place, and with the dramatic climate changes that have been scientifically recorded recently, the dorado that used to be in San Carlos could have simply moved on. Water temperature, chlorophyll, bait, tides, currents, weather patters, they all play a role in determining where these fish go. Main point DiveUrge, you had your couple of posts about reform, that's great. You know who is interested in taking on the Mexican government with you, contact them. Hell, ask Bart to make you your own section, I don't care as long as I don't have to read your bullcrap anymore.

| There's a river in Egypt called Denial. Perhaps you might consider fishing there?

Eh, there just ain't makin' some people happy, no matter what you do.
Fernando, I'm with you buddy! It's all about having fun. A 10 lb. dorado going ballistic on the end of my line is just as much fun as a 30 pounder. Bonus points for releasing that 10 pounder, too!

Diveurge- I for One do not target dorado In a Tournament, Keep in mind we Just finished the 59th annual BILLFISH tournament, When we tournament fish I avoid Dorado areas, and try not to mess around with them, billfish are the way to win not Dorado
If You look at last years Sept. and Oct. Tournament Here is what You will see "Labor day" 31 boats fishing 3 days released 44 billfish, thats an average Of .47 Billfish per boat per day, Not very good would you agree ?? 1 month later In the Cantina Cup 27 boats In 2 days fishing released 98 billfish, thats an average Of 1.81 billfish per boat per day, get ride of Costa Rica and Guatemla sailfish tournamnets and thats in the top 10% of tournaments around the world.
Here is my point after the labor day tournament I did not sell my boat and get ride of my fishing gear , and tell everyone How theres no billfish left In SC..I Did some Reseach and found out In real hot water the fish are deeper and down riggers work very well...Jarrod let the Cat Out of the Bag, if you want to start catching More and bigger Dorado, put your energy In learning how to do it Instead of complaining about it . If you want big Dorado Look a little Deeper,

Look a little DEEPER, like in DEEP DENIAL?
Fish are plentiful. They are just much smarter now so that's why there are far fewer recorded caught in the tournaments. Only the really smart fishermen, those that know all the new tricks that now fool the smarter fish, are able to catch them. Makes perfect sense to me! Pay no attention to the lower fish counts over the past 20 years. Everything's fine. Just run along. I give up.

No The fish are no Smarter, But over the past 20 years The water has got alot warmer, who's Fault is that ? Should we now take on the whole world so we can make the water temps return to what they used to be ??? Its a lot easier To fish Deeper, and yes smart fisherman who do there home work do Catch more fish

My dinero is with you Steve.. Your crew works hard for the fish, which makes clients happy..
There is never a shortage of equipment to purchase.. We trolled 20 miles north of SC to catch some on-shore fish for a change.. 3 Sierra's.. Phooey!! I am sure fish are there, but my flyline cannot get down to them.. Better scour E-Bay for a down-rigger.. That is if PQ & No Sniveling have not purchased all the good stuff.. Even with that I think i will substitute mono for flyline, that will reduce the drag... Or, dead drift and let out plenty of super sink line..
E & I hooked up on Dorado in June till it was almost boring.. Did I say that?? Last weekend, 2 Dorado.. Time to change strategems.. I appreciated No Snivelings remark, post tournament, "I tried everything I had."
I do not have a teaser, so Friday I took the flute section of my air horn, tied a line on it and drug it around.. Gotta be busy out there.. I did find some whales.. Maybe their is a secret tune in the horn?
I have no clue if there are more or less pelagics in the SoC.. Rumor are there are less.. E & I are having more fun in SC with you all, than a 'One-legged man in a butt-kickin' contest'..
