I have a quick question. I've read how I can send off to San Diego for a fishing license before our trip there but wonder if it's worth the trouble. I think it should be easier to get the boat permit and fishing licenses once we are in San Carlos.
Are there any opinions either way on where to buy them?
Also, I read somewhere that you only need a license for those over 16 yrs old and my son in 14. Maybe it's easier to just get one for him but does anyone know the rule for sure?
Thanks. By the way, Bart you were right about lying to my wife about the cost of buying tackle! Luckily I'm buying it piecemeal and have no desire at all to add up the total cost of everything.

Depends on how much time you have-can only buy from San diego by mail so if you only have a few days wait til you get to San carlos.

You can order them from the Vagabundos. Service is fast. I get my boat permit and licenses through them every year. Phone 800-474-2252.
The rules are very specific - EVERYONE on the boat needs a license, regardless of whether or not they are fishing.
On the fishing gear: My biggest fear is that when I die, my wife will sell all my fishing gear for what I told her I actually paid for it!

The convention & tourism office has licenses.. On the right entering town.. I only know what it looks like, but am not sure where it is from Hambone Insurance.. I think too far if you get to HI..

It is located immediately on the right as you get on the lateral access road coming into town-that would be just past Charlie's Rock.
