The fishing on 7/1 was very slow until afternoon when we found a floating milk crate 20 some odd miles out. There was alot of dorado and a few billfish hanging around it with a green sea turtle. Total for the day was alot of dorado including a few nice bulls, one nice sailfish and a pretty good sized marlin hook up but he got away after a few minutes. Here are some pictures.
Sunday was a little different. We only had a half day charter so we decided to go Southwest instead of way out. About 3 miles out of the marina we hooked up a large sized hen dorado and big bonita on marlin lures. We should have circled a few times there probably but kept trolling. Eventually we found a small bunch of boats working a school of dorado and dropped live baits and caught a bunch of little ones from there. Not bad for a half day charter and the little ones were alot of fun on light tackle.
We were on the Hakumba Matata with Danny and Marcos, they did an excellent job and were open to suggestions as far as what to do and what to fish with, plus they had awesome live bait every day. My first trip to SC and I couldn't be any happier.
