Hi all,
My dad has a boat in San Carlos (Reel Mule) & I want to get him a lure for Father's Day. He already has a gazillion, but I figure it might be something he likes. Anyway, what type would you recommend for billfish/marlin? Thanks,
Sharon

Your dad has a NICE boat! What is your budget for a lure; they get expensive for the fancy marlin lures. He's a lucky dad!

Make that a REALLY Nice Boat I talked to the guys at Phoenix Fishing Supply and they tell me the electronic lures are getting a lot of attention (from billfish, not just fishermen). At approx. $250 each they are too expensive to experiment on my own. However, if they worked like the testimonies I heard, they would be worth it. What is the REEL story on these lures???

Hi Craig,
I was trying to stay under $100 if possible (otherwise I will just get something else!). Thanks for the boat compliment. It is a fun boat. Are there any brands, color etc. you would recommend?

Thanks for the info. That is more than my budget will allow, but I could go down there and see what they have as I live in Phx. I was thinking I'd have to order it thru a catalog, but if I could pick up something there that would be even better as time is starting to get short.

Sharon,
That is a good budget to work with! Here is my choice for the favorite:
Pakula Sprocket in Lumo color:

You should also look at Stuarts products (Mr. SpongeBob on this site) at:

Stuart - what's your favorite for the thoughtful young lady!
Good luck!

Sharon,
I was going to recommend the moldcraft wide range for pure proven fish catching ability,
http://www.alltackle.com/moldcraft_lures.htm
but after looking at Stuart's lures, these are pure works of art with a long heritage. And without a doubt effective fish catcher's too. If I were on the receiving end of a gift, Stuart's line would be my first choice. I'm sure your Dad reads this forum and probably has a pool going on your pick. My money's on Stuart.
Best Regards,
Chuck
