Here is a couple photos from last week.
We had our fishing already lined up with Catch 22 Sportsfishing. I had been hearing about the Dorado being back, and wanted to get in on the action. I contacted Steve at Catch 22 Sportsfishing, and set a date. The 23rd..it will be!
We arrive in S.C. on the 22nd, and the wind is HOWLING. With white caps appearing in the Bay. No Bueno!
Went down to check out our digs for the next few days. 11 Puesta Del Sol...it's quite the house! Complete with pool, AND swim-up bar. (although the water was kinda cool!)
Went and watched the Suns game at the Marina Cantina...(GREAT place for TV sports!) then wandered down to Froggy's for a little relaxation. (All the while checking the wind along the way)
Headed back to the hacienda early, preparing for early AM fishing! Woke a few times during the night (and YES, I did look out the window each time!) It's gettin' BETTER, everytime I look out....Yippeee!!
6 O'clock come around, and the water is dead flat! Yes, sir...now were talking! Have an early breakfast at JC's, and go to the dock to meet Fernando. Right on time, Fernando shows up, right where he's supposed to be. BINGO!
We walk over and introduce ourselves...and were handed the bad news.....
"Yep, water is fine right now...BUT the wind is coming" He says...
You might be better off to wait a day, as it's supposed to be nice manana... (actually the first time I have EVER been told that.) Usually the charters will run come hell or high water....(OR, till someone throws up) Which ever comes first! And guess what.. they still get their 4 hr. minimum.
He says "the boat is ready" it's your choice.
I have been around a few boats...and when I'M advised to wait by a boat captain, you better believe I'm going to wait. (after 8 hrs seasick on a boat in Cabo. NO more for me).
So instead, we opt for a sunrise cruise, just to show some new visititors S.C. from the water. Needless to say, they were impressed. (as I always am!)
BEST move possible..!! We went out the next morning, and it was PERFECT. Got right out into the fish at about 26.5 miles out. We saw a bunch of tailing Marlins, but none were interested, it seemed.
Mostly caught 10-12 lb. Dorado's, with one Bull coming in at about 40 lb's. I watched him come in, and he was screaming...tearing up one of the Ballyhoo we brought along.
It was a GREAT day! Just couldn't have been any better...AND I have a freezer full to prove it!!
Hat's off to Catch 22 people! An honest, dependable, knowledgeable, FUN charter company. I'll be back...
THANKS!

Nice fish story Rixx. I wish I had your scale. My bull "only" weighed 31 pounds (caught May 15 on the Too Much Fun)
