| Does anyone know what the plans are for kayak access to the estuary next to the Pillar condos? It makes sense to limit vehicle access, but it would be nice to be able to continue to drag kayaks to the water from the parking area next to Pillar.

OK, I have answered my own question. It appears that the goal is to have all access through the partially completed visitor center located on the South East Side, along the road to the Dolipinario. The fence next to the Pillar Condominiums is partially completed and there is a guard stationed there sometimes whose job it is to keep vehicles and kayaks from entering the area from the north.
Along the south side there are places where the barbed wire fence is cut and vehicles are driving in, but that access is clearly not what is sanctioned. The problem for some of us is that dragging our kayaks from the parking area along the highway at the south side to the water is not an option.

From what I understand the Guard is no longer stationed there and the you can still access the water with a kayak if you simply go around the fence and follow the road about 100 feet from the end of the fence. Conservation International funded most of the work that has taken place there as far as visitor center and fence but the funding has run out and it is unclear to me who will finish funding the project and when that will happen.

As of three or four days ago the guard was there and had placed some broken concrete pieces across the dirt road located at the East end of the fence. Of course there are dirt roads everywhere and it seems that they are used frequently.
I have just been trying to respect thier effort to keep people from practially driving into the water. However, dragging my kayak over the rocky road at the southerly end next to the partially completed visitor center is not an option. It seems to me that people are just going to continue to cut fences and drive around these feeble barriers if they do not have a more useable access than currently exists.

Hi Greetings!
I think no one should put fences to cut acces to anyone, i believe that is a better idea to put guards not to interrupt acces, only to watch the conservation of the area, order and safety of the area and people. That's my Comment Thanks!
