Can anyone tell me about the drive from Sonorita this year? We have found it to be an easier border and drive in the past. Last year there was a lot of work being done on the road, and most of it was in great shape. Also, can anyone tell me where to get the Visas and TIPs in Sonorita? We expect to cross sometime around November 20 this year.

Also, is the golf course back in shape and playable now? I am looking forward to seeing the guys in the Men's club again....

We drove north a week ago and the road is fine.  No more side trips down temporary dirt roads and no more detour through Caborca town.  There was just a bit of lane painting and finish paving.  Toll is 59 pesos.

We don't enter Mexico through Sonoita but when we exit we get our FM 3 salida  stamped at the border.  The immigration office is just after you drive across.  You can park in the center between the north and southbound lanes and walk back across the southbound lanes to the office that is located in a building with red brick arches in front.  Very quick.

Thanks Carlos, your message is much appreciated. We will be coming from San Diego this year.  The Sonoita route saves us some time and has been pretty much empty the last two trips we have taken on that route, but we haven't been able to find where we bet our visas in the past.
