My parents have a place in Country Club (which seems ok) and are thinking about coming down from Montana earlier than planned to bring needed supplies. We understand that the lack of drinking water is bringing up fears of a Cholera outbreak, especially in Guymas, which was hit harder than SC, and where most of the folks who work in SC live. Does anyone know if there are any Government or NGO groups coordinating relief efforts? It sounds like a food bank formation is in order and the Mexicans at La Manga are in real trouble without shelter, food or water. If anyone knows what is needed, we can start a "drive" up here gather clothes, bedding, food, clean-up supplies, meds, or whatever is the highest priority for my folks to bring down. My direct email is kristinarey@yahoo.com if that helps. Thanks and Take Care, kris

thanx Bart!  yeah, post that PP link ASAP.  i'm sure there are many folks out there like me, who ain't feasibly able to get down there due to distance and unreasonable employer demands for attendance at work, but who are pretty upset by the destruction and want to do whatever we can to help.  as bad as the gringo sector looks, i can only imagine what happened to some of the poorer areas.:(

Supplies can be dropped off in Sierra Vista at Lawley Team Ford on Hwy 90 next to Gas City and across from Target.  Please drop off by close of business Wednesday for truck leaving very early Thursday morning.

Bart,

What is the consensus for crossing donated items through Mexican Customs? Are they going to have issue with bags of used clothing, towels, etc?

Another thing I just thought of that would be good to pass out are bottles of hand sanitizer.  With no water, that will help with the spread of disease.

Castaway Kids, Inc. and Rotary Club International have joined forces to help those in need in Guaymas. You can visit the Castaway Kids site for information on donations and we are trying to get the Paypal info to Bart.

When you get the paypal address,  please just post it here.

Can you also get info donors may need to get thru customs with donated items?

Thanx

There is a link on the Castaway Kids website for the Paypal donations.

http://www.castawaykidsmx.org/

We are still rounding up information as to what the government will allow us to bring down without any hassles.

Removed the long secure link-could not get it to work.  The link to the site is fine and serves the same purpose.

It works just fine from the link on the Castaway Kids website. I was able to send a donation from my PayPal account, but anyone can send a secure transaction using a credit card.

Per the Itsun posting, perhaps Dog & Cat food would be a good choice to drop off, as well.

I sent a donation to Castaway Kids through Paypal, marking it for relief efforts in San Carlos and area - is that going to end up in the right place? - we are a long way from San Carlos.

Bart, et al;

I understand the need for supplies -- do you need *people*?  I want to come down and help, but not if there isn't a place for me to step in.  Otherwise, I'll send supplies.

Here is the latest info that I have received on bringing needed items down to SC.

"The border has tightened down and it may be because there are a lot of people trying to get thru with donations.

Sonora Is Safe is asking that people drop off their donations at the following locations in Arizona.

The items will be loaded onto storage bins and driven across the border on our trucks.

Hopefully, this will make it easier for everyone.

Thank you for all the support!

Think there are plenty of hands available to do the work.  The more of us that go to help the more stain we put on scarce infrastucture resources. Greatest need is for cash, followed by goods.  Please visit the paypal link at

http://www.posadacondominiums.com/jimena.php

and give...generously.  Or drop off goods at Lawley Team Ford on N Hwy 90 in Sierra Vista.

Thanx

Bart
