We are planning to stay a couple of weeks at the PVC but there seems to be several online horror stories about peoples experiences there.
Can anyone relate their, or anyone else's, stay at this place?
Is this the only timeshare in town, anyone?

| We have stayed there for a week a few years ago and found it to be just fine. Not super fancy but very comfortable and the staff were friendly, pool heated in winter and food good at the restaurant.

I've never stayed there but they have been ad clients for several years and the sum total of complaints we have received is zero (0). They are the only time share in SC.

I stayed for 4-5 days with my wife and infant. We found even a studio room to be comfortable.
Cons: Not close to anything - you need a car. No internet access/wireless a couple years ago, don't know about now. Not directly on a good beach, but walking distance to the best beach in San Carlos.
Pros: At the time you could use the beach/pool for San Carlos Plaza. Not sure if this is still allowed, probably is as long as you are buying drinks / food. Great margaritas at the PVC bar (fresh squeezed lime). They didn't try a high pressure pitch once I told them their time share is available on ebay for $1000 instead of the $15,000+ they try to get you for. I think there is a decent view from most rooms.
The stay was enjoyable enough that I've considered picking up one of the ebay PVC timeshares but just never pulled the trigger. I've had land in San Carlos for 2-3 years now and always think I'm about to build a house but the economy kinda tanked that. We will get back down sooner or later and if so we will either rent a house or use PVC.

We stayed at the PVC several one week visits as our house in SC was being constructed. Above posters are correct - friendly staff, daily maid service, nice water views from unit terrace, decent AC, pool heated all year, adequate kitchenette nice to have a fridge even if you don't cook, HBO.
Good snorkling just in front of the resort, and wireless Internet works depending on where your room is. Free Internet terminal in the lobby.
Cons - very tight parking lot so don't drive a monster SUV if you can help it. On weekends in the summer Mexican families visit to cool off and the pool is one big children's splash party from opening to closing hours. Monday morning it is empty again until Friday night. The rest of the year the pool is a calm oasis, or you can swim in the sea.

We are owners in the ILX timeshare. Next year will be our 3rd visit to this property. It is not a large resort; it is a hotel with the most awesome views of the sunset. One couple we met there stated it nicely, the views are priceless.
The rooms are ok. The major plus is that they are clean and roomy. We have to get a cushion for our bed to make it softer, but they deliver it to the room, no charge. Maid service and front desk service has always been efficient. As someone stated, snorkeling right in front of the hotel is wonderful, we just brought our own floaties and spent the day in the water.
If you want the Ritz don't go but if you want a laid back vacation go for it.

When I was there three years ago in Jan there was no heat
and was chilly.
for those who like warmth this may be a problem. Do not
know if things are still the same.

Does anyone know how the storm affected the PVC area or the Club itself?
Looks like lots of other places available through VRBO.
