 From todays newspaper El Vigia
Escrito por Miguel G. Written by Michael G. García Pérez Garcia Perez

Wednesday, 30 July 2008

Several Americans living in the Manglares of San Carlos, New Guaymas, expressed their dissatisfaction at the lack of police surveillance, because so far this month, have been at least ten robberies. (this is the Manglares area)There have been three also on the Caracol and two or three in the Ranchitos.)
These people, who have their houses by the sea, indicated that they do not know what to do before this wave of thefts that has been presented, as most have been objects of appliances, clothing and tools.
To this day, some of those affected are Betsy Jeff Bays, Jeanne Davis, Lonox Hill, Marian Cantre;; Royal, and who has been the most harmed, Kay Cantrell, because this is the second time that get to her home to steal.
At the theft on Tuesday came elements of the Municipal Police commissioners in San Carlos, who took note of theft and evidence to residents to bring the complaint to the Agency of Public Prosecutions.
"We do not know what to do, in fact we want to make a visit to the municipal president, Antonio Gutierrez Astiazarán, to put the situation, because as the highest authority must be aware of this problem, that we hear only that nothing happens and we steal every time they want thieves, "he said.
They added that should receive attention from the authorities, and asked to provide more police surveillance, but above all that they no longer steal, because Americans are good(wealthy?).

Please do not blame the homeowners. It does appear in the future that all houses should have a system.

Many of these homes are owned by residents who have lived here for many, many years. They have bars on the windows and followed all of the precautionary measures. One house had the rolling security window covers pried off.

These thieves are well organized and gutsy. They are emptying homes in broad day light.

There is  a massive problem. Please make sure all theft (or suspicious activity) is reported to the Police department.

The local police were able to recover a stolen moterhome within 12 hours of it being reported about a month ago.

The police complained that they didn't have much money for gas, so were not patrolling as much.  "too many problems with Americans"  If we were not here, where would San Carlos be?
There seem to be more  break-ins this year, then in the past.  It is sad that we need to have security systems, but it certainly protects those of us willing to pay for them.

We have a security system for our house in Edmonton and it sure gives us peace of mind.  Mexico is certainly not the only place where a security system makes sense.

To my  knowledge, no.  I persoanlly know five of the places, and none had a security system.  All of them did have bars.

Believe that at least two of the homes now have installed a security system.  One would have thought that bars and rolling shutters would have been enough.  One house was burglarized twice in two weeks!  Seems like Mangares has been hit the most, but with houses and vehicles parked there.   Wonder why the Comisario or Chief of Police has not re-installed the police at the exit of San Carlos, but now think it would have to be at the glorietta by Pilar, due to the road to the Delfinario?  That seemed to be a big deterrent in the past and when it was removed, burglaries went way up.  Just a thought?

My husband's shoes were stolen while we were on a shore dive. The sand was hot that day!

Also, our TV was taken from our travel trailer that was parked at El Mirador. There is security there. Didn't do us any good. The trailer was also moved and they said that they didn't move it! Needless to say, we are now staying at Totonaka and love it.
