There has been some talk on the message boards about a Texas Hold em Poker game at the Marina Cantina on Sunday's. Just to set the record straight to the public and the Liquor authorities, THERE IS NO GAMBLING ALOWED AT THE MARINA CANTINA WHATSOEVER ON SUNDAYS OR ANY OTHER DAY FOR THAT MATTER AND ANYONE SUGGESTING ANY SUCH SORT OF ACTIVITIES IS TALKING OUT OF WHERE THE SUN DOESN'T SHINE. ANY PERSONS CAUGHT GAMBLING ON THESE PREMISES WILL BE THROWN OUT IMMEDIATELY!!!!!!!!!!  RICK

Bienviendidos to the NEW MEXICO!

I came here after my tour in Viet Nam 40 years ago in search of freedom and liberty, and to escape this restrictive and oppressive type of s#&t. NAFTA has made another over regulated USA out of this place. 30 years from now they will not even speak Spanish. Canada, the USA and Mexico will be one State, all with the same restrictive laws.

The loss of individual rights are quickly vanishing in all of North America.

I pity the future of my grand and great-grand children!

What's freedom and liberty got to do with it?  i'm an ex vietnam infantry officer and this has nothing to do with vietnam or america.  these are t he laws of an independent country that sees fit not to allow gambling.  the only gambling i've seen in rick's place is the chance you take on the food.  gary b. colorado

My statement was not a indictment of Rick.

My point is that there was a time here that it was the Spirit of the law rather than the Letter of the law. Lots of harmless illegal things were just not noticed. The law would look the other way.

Mexico has significantly changed in the last 6 to 10 years! It used to be a lot more layed back with a easy live and let live attitude.

Please, I do not need You to lecture Me on Mexican Law. I have been here in Mexico most of 40 years. Thats long enough to learn the laws and customs of the land. Thank you very much.

I am shocked that you did not know about all of the ex-vets who settled in Mexico rather than the USA after their tour of duty!

Laws are broken all over the World, but the fact is they are laws and I know that I try to not break them.  Think that blatently advertizing a gambling game at someones place of business where they could lose their license, that is foolish.  If someone wants to break the law that is their business, but to involve others and then joke about it is stupid.

Jimmy, what did you do to originally make a living in Mexico as a young guy? When I came back I never thought of that possibility. I was too busy finishing my education and trying to find a decent job. No offense intended. I'm just curious.

I would make money in the States.

Among other things; as a Independent Catastrophe Insurance Adjuster you can live anywhere in the world. I would get the call to action. Fly or drive out and work for 1 to 4 months a year. In 2 or 3 months one can make a years worth of USA wage. That used to go a LONG way in Mexico.

Rental Properties, small scale land development.

An entrepreneur can find ways to make a good living with out being tied down to a wage job, especially if he works to live, not lives to work.

Also, I did not neglect my education.

I said-most of 40 years, not-all of 40 years.
