I moved from California by U-Haul.  Rented a storage place in Tucson & bought down furniture as I needed it by trailer.  I stopped & declared what I had, paid a reasonable duty and it worked out fine.  I explained at the border that I had a house & was moving my belongings down here.  Everyone was very cooperative at the border.  Good luck with whatever way you choose.
