Is the Delfinario Sonora back in operation or not for visits?  Can you please let me know.

Want to take the family there next week.

Thank you, Preston.

We went there last Sunday.  Rates were higher than the web site we looked at.  It's 80 pesos for adults and though it shows 40 pesos for 60+, I was told that only applied to Mexicans.  Whew!  Try to get away with THAT in the U.S.

It does say with senior citizens card.  How was your visit and did  you swim with the dolphins?  Was the water warm enough or did you need a wet suit? How many dolphins are there and were the instructors in control of the dolphins?

Adultos $ 60.00

Adultos mayores de 60 años (con credencial del INSEN) $30.00

Niños (3 a 12 años) $ 40.00

 NADO CON DELFINES

Nado Interactivo $1,200.00

Nado Educativo $400.00

El costo del programa incluye la entrada al delfinario.

I know it says 60 pesos on the website, but the signs and cashiers there say 80 pesos.  Didn't swim with the dolphins, just watched the 2 shows.   Does anyone know if they ever offer any shows in English?  My grandkids are coming down later this month -- as a lot of the show is educational, it can be somewhat boring (especially for a child) if you can't understand the lectures.

P.S.  There were 2 dolphins.  Don't know that anyone was swimming with them, as there wasn't much time at all between the different shows.

Freewheeler, we kind of felt the same way when we heard that the senior discount was only for Mexican nationals, but then we got to thinking about Mexico and why that is and we are happy to help subsidise the program.  Mexican seniors need the discount, we don't, and just because we can't get away with that in US or Can, means nothing in Mexico, and that is their business.    Anyways, I did swim with the dolphins 18 months ago (Feb '07).  The program then was bilingual and mucho interesting and somewhat interactive.  I really wish them the best of luck this time around with Sea of Cortes dolphins.

I too enjoyed swimming with the dolphins, but did not feel that the instructors at that time had their act in gear and felt that the dolphins were controlling them.I believe that the new dolphins are not from the Sea of Cortez, as they arrived by air?Dave?? Do you know? When I swam with them there were four dolphins.

Was a wet suit needed? The instructors at that time all spoke English.  Look forward to doing it another time when family come.  They are magnificent creatures.

How does one get a child on this program, does anyone know?  Gracias

it is required that you use a wetsuit and I did but I found the water temp quite comfortable (maybe because of the wetsuit).  At that time there were the 4 dolphins from Cancun.  They were extremely well trained and easy to interact with and to handle.  they seemed to like the interaction.  Sadly, however, they apparently did not adjust well to the different water temp and I hear that the newest dolphins are from the Sof C, but do not know that as fact.
