Hi,

We will be arriving in San Carlos tomorrow afternoon (Fri, 6/1//07).  Does anyone know where to donate clothes to the orphanage, or other needy place? They are mostly childrens clothes, but there are some adult clothes as well.

Thanks,

Sharon

Surface Time (located between Marinaterra Hotel & Tequila's) is a designated drop off site for donations for the orphange in Empalme.  We will gladly accept your donation, and make sure it gets to the orphange promptly.  They will be thrilled with anything you can donate!

Thanks!

Thanks for the information. My mom called someone she knew, so we ended up giving the clothes to Rancho Cristo/King's Kid Orphanage by the airport. That is nice to know Surface Time accepts the donations, too. We will bring something for them next time.

There is. As you are on the main road to the airport there is a road that veers off to the right (basically just across from the airport).  Take this right at the fork. Go straight on the dirt road. You should see a sign for the orphanage. Go left; go all the way to the end on the dirt road; left again; past couple of 2 story homes. The orphanage is just about the last house on the left. This is a dirt road and makes a lot of turns, but there are signs for the orphanage (San Jose Rancho Cristo/Kings Kid orphanage). I think there might have been another one, or maybe a different sign for that one. There is a (cell phone contact 044.622.101.9379; Jesse or Jenny).  This orphanage had about 7 boys. There were very polite and introduced themselves to us.

Good luck!

Is Surface Time still a designated drop off site for orphanage donations??  I have a ton of clothes, leftovers from my son's school uniform sale.  Lots of uniform shorts, pants, polos shirts and some sweatshirts.  Mostly all kids sizes.  I'd love to bring them down this week and deliver them somewhere..Any other suggestions???

If you drop them off at Seaside Realty (behind the Pemex station) I will make sure they get out there.  Thanks

Anytime while they are open is fine. Just say they are for Matt and they will call me.

Thanks a bunch!

To track coach.  NO, there is not an orphanage near the San Carlos airport.  It is near the Guaymas airport (big difference)  They can always use some help.  The kids are very sweet, and Jessie and his wife work very hard to give the children a good life.

last year I was quite disappointed to see that the nuns do not have time to nurture the children at the Empalme orphanage.  They do not seem to lack for material goods, just quality time and attention
