Maybe some useful info for SoCal people catching cheap flights out of TJ. Apparently, there are free parking lots to leave your call at the trolley station(s). The Palm Ave lot in Chula Vista is suppose to be about 15mins or so from the border.
The trolley is $2.50 and runs every 15 mins on the Blue line to the border. From there cab it to the airport. I'm gonna give it a try soon. I've been parking at the TJ airport, and driving back across the border has been a mess no matter what time.

Yes the trolly is great. I took a taxi cab from the Tijuana Airport ($15.00US)to the crossing, make sure you have a rolling suitcase, then walked across the border and took the trolly (I believe it was $2.50 at the machine by the trolly stop, you need dollars or the correct change for the ticket, issued by the machine, it give change too) all the way to the Train Station in San Diego, got on Amtrak and went North. Great flight on Aviancsa (spelling) from Hermosillo.
