Muy impresionante!! It is definately worth the time to take this trip if one has the time for a leisurely trip down to SC or returning through the AZ border crossings of Naco o Aqua Prieta. Sonora indeed has a lot to offer. Didn't see another gringo.

Another topic for later: Has San Carlos become a enclave of racistas y derechistas?? These folks should be building their pinche muro on the border not complaining in Mexico.

Nice, insulting first post, dude.............

Just because you might prefer to live in a Guaymas barrio, doesnt mean everyone should aspire to that, too.

And the people that live in a Guaymas barrio "Dude"  Are they lower down on the rung than a gringo like you who lives in SC? Proves my point that racism is alive and well in SC.

I find it interesting that you ask if San Carlos has become an enclave of racists [I am supposing you are meaning citizens of the US and Canada disliking People from Mexico] and in the same posting you use a racist insulting term toward all peoples of the US and Canada.

I would question "Just who is proving they are a racist here?"

To answer your question San Carlos has not become a bastion racism.  Yes there are racists here, Just as there are racists in every community even Mexican ones.

In my opinion It takes a racist point of view to brand all members of a group with a label be it negative or positive.

I thought I would pop in and wish ALL a happy new year...........

After deciphering the post I see that we are to assume likes and dislikes are spreading like wild fire!!! I may ask what I consider valid questions an hey I am sometimes wrong. But in this matter I agree with GG a racist is the one who points a finger at others and tries to brand them as being like themselves.

I will ask though, do you think a Canadian or American (Kanook/Yankee) would move and live in a country if they were racist to that nation and it's people?
I don't think so, but you will get a few visitors with that outlook. So if your assumption is even vaguely right, it could be that the million plus Christmas and New Year visitors to Mexico had Racist tendencies.  But to contemplate or accuse the people who choose to live there, because they like the people and the rich culture of Mexico and it's People is way out of bounds and your accusation should be withdrawn apologetically..

For you Tomasito.................  it :dude:

Everyone seems to miss the important part of the posting.

We take that road all the time, but have never seen Tomasito? It is truly a beautiful drive, but a little bit of a hard one for those of us who are afraid of winding roads and big drop offs.

The original point was that La Ruta Del Rio Sonora is well worth the trip. I have made no accusations nor am stating that ALL extranjeros are guilty of racism, but it is obvious I have hit a sore spot among some in the community. My observations come after listening to a recent local radio station on the subject, listening to more than several callers with their views on the topic & my own first hand observations in San Carlos. I sincerely hope I am completely wrong, but unfortunately many of the locals feel the same way. Any comments in the future will be bright and cheery & I'll avoid subjects that stir controversy or introspection.
