Does anyone know if you are able to bring two vehicles into Mexico both registered in the same name. i.e. Both my vehicles are registered in my wife's name. We will have more than a car full coming down at x mas time. We now have one vehicle permitted.

Technically no.  But it is possible.  Do one under Sonora Only and one all MX (Bancejito office).  The two systems are not linked.

You can do it if one of the vehicles is jointly titled.  My truck is in my name and registered and my son's car is in both names and registered in Mexico under his name. Both vehicles are on 6 month permits.  Simple solution since you have some time is to add your name to registration on one vehicle.

Sorry, but I'm confused about "jointly registered." If I drive my RV down, towing my car on a car dolly, is that going to be a problem? Both vehicles are registerd in my name.

sadly, it depends on who you get at the border, the law states that you cannot bring 2 vehicles in under the same name, what rv'ers do is put one in the wife or husbands name so there are 2 permits. sometimes the people at the permit office will add the tow car to the rv permit, but that is not what the law states as i said.... now regarding the 2 types of permits, yes you can put 1 in the all mexico program and 1 on only sonora as the 2 are not linked

Thanks for the info. I think I'll solve the problem (I'm a widower, so no wife to register one vehicle to) by taking the car that belongs to the friend who is going with me. This information will have saved me lots of trouble.
