This is the first time I've ever thought of Canada as having nice gambling joints. There are so many attractions in Canada that casinos seems low on the must see list. Are you planning any place in particular?

Coming into Canada shouldn't be much different than any other boarder crossing. Passports are a good idea for all North Americans but birth certificates and photo ID are minimum. If you are bringing children that are not being accompanied by both parents you will need special letters of consent. Vehicles must be registered and insured (like everywhere).

We summer in Edmonton and winter in San Carlos. Could recommend some things and places to visit if you are interested.  Summers are really something here, most enjoyable. But winter is something else. Glad there is a place like San Carlos for us Canadians to escape to.

IS AMERICAN MONEY O.K. OR WOULD WE HAVE TO GET IT EXCHANGED.  THANKS AGAIN....TIGERLADY:)

US currency is even less the norm in Canada than in Mexico. You will find that retailers tend to pad the exchange as do the banks and credit card companies. At least in Mexico if you keep your head about you they do give you a better rate for your dollar than you'll get going north. So, do as we do and look around at home for the best rate and exchange your dollars for Canadian before you go. We do that were ever we go and it pays.

We have a very active B&B group in Canada but you'll have to be very specific as to area, region, province etc. but most good ones will be listed on the net. Others will advertise in the appropriate mags.

Canada is emense so you can't see it all at once. If you decide that you want to see the west we can suggest a number of places worth seeing. Hope this helps.

I agree that summer is great in the Edmonton area.  I live 2 1/2 hrs. out of Edmonton and wouldn't trade the summer for anything.  Lots of lakes, scenery, etc., but you can't find much worse for the winter.  Lots of casinos in Edmonton, lots of B and B's.  Each province puts out Travel Booklets for hotels/B and B's, camping, fishing, etc. every year with ratings, these booklets can be picked up free at any tourist info. booth and are a good guide.  The prices in reality are not always what is quoted though.  I would also suggest going through the Rocky Mountains if you are interested at all in scenery.  Banff, Jasper, etc.  some of the most beautiful scenery you will ever see.

Best exchange rates would be either at home or in a bank in Canada.  US cash not taken in stores, etc. they will exchange but the rate will not be great.

Also remember that Canada is on the metric system, so temperatures, speed limits, etc. will be like Mexico not like the US.

Enjoy your trip.
